Gray Matters Capital (GMC) and The Rockdale Foundation (Rockdale) are the independent, philanthropic entities founded by Bob Pattillo. A primary tenet of each foundation is to improve the livelihood of the working poor in developing countries. Collectively, they develop and support initiatives focused on infrastructure development for social ventures through grants, programmatic activities and mission-related investments.

The Foundation's early philanthropic work increased financial access and services to underserved populations. Milestones include the establishment of Sanabel, the Microfinance Network of the Arab World, click here to learn more about Sanabel and the International Association of Microfinance Investors (IAMFI) click here to learn more about IAMFI.

Currently, the foundations are expanding access to quality education to low-income families in developing countries, by enhancing the infrastructure of the Affordable Private Schools (APS) sector. Through their program activities and grant support the foundations work collaboratively with the schools and others to establish industry standards and transparency.

GMC is an active equity investor in early-stage businesses with demonstrable financial and social return. It has committed $10 million to a mission-related investment portfolio of eight companies. Click here to learn more about the GMC investments.
