First Light’s Investment in Village Capital at Work A class of entrepreneurs at the Idea Village in New Orleans selected three fellow entrepreneurs to receive investment funding through the Village Capital program. Feelgoodz LLC Feelgoodz: sells “eco-flops”; recyclable, 100% natural rubber flip-flops and is seeking to become the 1st fair-trade certified rubber product in the US. Jack and Jake’s Local and Organic Farms A chain of grocery stores that sell local/organic foods. Each product in the store is measured in “food miles”—distance from place-of-production to store—with a goal of a maximum radius of 65 miles. Drop the Chalk Drop the Chalk has developed a program that tracks data, discipline, and educational performance for teachers. Their target market is high-performing charter schools in low-income areas. |
